I wanted to post some pictures of my most recent creations. As I said in my last post, I made some favors for the last class that I did with Alison back in June. My new version of the wedding favors created by Judith Bassem of Creativa Bassem. I posted a picture of her version in my previous blog post. I was so inspired by this project, that I thought I would recreate it. I love the colors bashful blue and chocolate chip together, so I used that combination for my tea favor. I took the project to the Philly Inker's quarterly brunch.

Just like Judith, I used Stampin' Up's stampin' round wheel called Baroque Border with chocolate chip ribbon. A list of my Stampin' Up supplies are below:

I added a score line down the middle of the favor so that I could fold the favor flat. It sounds like a lot of supplies, but these are really easy to make. I appreciate Judith's post that encourages you to wheel the WHOLE sheet of paper, BEFORE you cut it up. That's a great idea. I'm including another picture of both of the projects that I created for our Summer Gifts Class in June.

I really enjoyed making the tin! I love these tins. I covered them with designer series paper (a pattern that house now retired), bashful blue paper, and silver hodge podge hardware, which is in the new Stampin' Up I dea B ook and Catalog.

I also covered a coordinating little book to fit

inside the tin. I'm not sure why I didn't take

a picture of the little book, but it seemed the class like the project, though it took a long time. This tin is covered on the inside as well and the bottom as well, which is pretty, but takes a lot of time. For the class, I instructed them not to cover the bottom, it didn't add a lot to the project.

It's Wednesday, which means I have two days until our Summer Gifts Class. I've been preparing projects but I couldn't upload pictures due to PC problems. I thought I would post the card that I made for the Philly Inkers swap on Monday. It was supposed to be a Father's Day Card... that's what the big D is about. I like these new stamps sets... I haven't even mounted the entire alphabet yet. Well, this is actually three stamp sets, a background, an alphabet stampset, and the floral wreath belongs to another stamp set. I don't LOVE how this card turned out, but I liked working with these three sets.

At our meeting Monday, a new demonstrator (Judith Bassem) sent us these little favors with tea bags in them (Thanks Judith!!!). I have already 'borrowed' the idea for the class on Friday and Saturday. It's cute, it's easy (if I can do it, it HAS to be easy), and didn't take much time. I'll post my version in the near future. Long time no see....

Hello everyone, it's been awhile since I last posted on my blog. I have recently changed jobs (yeah!) and several other things have been going on as well. I haven't made too many cards or projects lately. I did make a swap in March for our Philly Inkers Brunch , and it was the same card I designed for our Germantown Stamp a Stack that Alison and I taught together in March. The swap I designed is below (picture is courtesy Kristin Fuller's Blog).

Alison and I have planned to do another class in June. We'll be doing a Summer Gifts Class on Friday, June 13 and Saturday, June 14. You can choose either day for the class. We'll be making really nice gift items 3D projects, not just cards. We will make a small tin and several other items. For an example of one of these tins, please see Claire Lawrence's blog . I also included a picture of the tin below. We will not do the exact same project, but this just lets you know that there's a lot that can be done with these tins. Stampin' Events

On Saturday, Feb. 23rd, the Philly Inkers hosted it's first Stamp and Scrap University at the Church of the Annunciation in Mt. Airy in Northwest Philadelphia. Philly Inkers members Claire Lawrence, Alison Wear, Lisa Davis and myself (as a helper) presented new techniques to a group of talented and enthusiastic women. We had a great time!

To the right is Alison showing her Dahlia Medallion technique card. There were 24 techniques presented during the day, which went from 9am to 4pm. There was so much to learn for everyone, but I think most people had a great time. Below is a picture of most of the afternoon group and other pictures at the event.

Ahhh... Valentine's Day!

Valentine's Day is upon us, yes, love is in the air... at least the love of crafting. I thought I would post some pictures of some Valentines that I have received, or made. Also, my fellow Stampin' Up buddies have been cranking out some lovely Valentine's Day creations.

Claire Lawrence made this lovely Valentine's Day card (to the right) that I got in the mail yesterday, isn't it pretty? I love the way she used water color techniques to accent this Sale-a-Bration stamp set.

Kristin Fuller sent this beautiful Valentine to the left. Very prettyful (a word I learned from my niece).

Below are some Valentine's Day projects I had been working on for my workshop. The first two cards I made with the inspiration of the last card, one that Claire sent me (thanks Claire!). I went a little crazy with the hearts stamp from Short and Sweet in the middle card.

My First Workshop

So, on Sunday, I had my first workshop. My friend Yolanda was willing to host a workshop for me, and we decided to combine it with a Mary Kay pampering party, provided by our friend and Mary Kay Beauty Consultant Mueni, and we also had a presentation of lovely crocheted fashions and accessories by my friend Helen. And we did all this on Superbowl Sunday! Most of the attendees have been friends of mine for years from grad school at Eastern University and Palmer Seminary, so it was fun to do my first workshop amongst good friends!

Since it would be a busy day, I designed one small and simple 2.75" x 2.75" card with the Embrace Life stamp set, the Short and Sweet stamp set, Real Rose Prints Designer Series Paper, Whisper White card stock, Silver Brads, and Purely Pomogranite Ink. I was going for a Valentine's Day theme.

Though it's kind of tiny, I really like the way that it turned out. And this is one of the first cards that I have made with duplication in mind, so I'm happy about that. Thus, the small size!

Anyway, I also made the hostess gift using the same papers and inks. I made a few extra jars to give to anyone who wanted to host a workshop in the future, but I didn't have any takers. (But I still have them if someone is interested!)

When I got home, I discovered that I had accidentally reclaimed Yolanda's Hostess Gift! Oops! I'm going to get it to her this week, though. She told me that she has no hard feelings. :) Below is Yolanda (2nd from right) and some of the other ladies at the workshop. Look at all the food on the counter behind them that Yolanda and her mom provided!

And this is Carolyn, having fun with the
blush and preparing for the Superbowl festivities. :). She also won this door prize, a mini mailbox for her Valentines... wrapped in Prints Designer Series Paper.

These are tags I made out of Holiday Harmony Designer Series Paper. I handed these out at the workshop with my contact information on the back.

We had a lovely time, and I'm glad that it gave us all a chance to get together. I also told my friends that I appreciated that they would all support the small businesses that were starting amongst our group.

SWAPS

I used my workshop card design as the same design for my very first card swap I had with the other Demonstrators at our Philly Inkers meeting on Monday night. I already had all my materials cut and sorted.

Some of you may wonder why I did 2.75" x 2.75" cards instead of a 3" x 3" card (I mean, it's already small enough, right?). Well, I noticed that when using 8.5" by 11" inch card stock, 11 inches divided by 2.75" is exactly 4. So, I was able to cut my paper into four cards instead of only 3 cards with a wasted 2 inches on the side. Aha! And to some of you that made no sense at all, right?

Anyway, here is a picture of the swaps I made for the Philly Inkers.

My Stamped Creations

This post is simply a review of some examples of cards I have made over the years. I love making cards and other things and have been doing it all my life.

This is a card that I made for a co-worker's birthday. It used Stampin' Up's Fresh Fillers (a retired stamp set) and Bravo Burgundy Ink.

Below, this 'Thinking of You' card was one that I made for another co-worker. It uses Stampin' Up's Sincere Salutations, Bravo Burgundy Ink, and again, Fresh Fillers, and lots of dimensionals to give it depth.

Below was a birthday card I made for my roommate. I used a Susan Branch stamp set called Letters and Numbers.

Next is a folder that I made. I learned to make folders at Alison Wear's Christmas card making class last year. I made this one for a coworker who was changing jobs. I had other coworkers write their thoughts on index cards, and I placed the cards inside the folder. I stamped 'Best Wishes' using a stamp from Sincere Salutations inside the folder .

I hope that I have and will continue to grow creatively as I continue going to trainings, classes, and providing workshops as a demonstrator. I have already grown a lot through techniques I've learned through Stampin' Up. My next goals are speed and time. I need to take more time making things AND I would like to get faster. I know the two go hand in hand. It's just in making the time.

Bye bye Holidays....

Well, the holidays are officially over and I have completely been in denial. I had a great time at home with my family in Georgia. I was born and raised in Cartersville, GA, just about 45 minutes north of Atlanta. I go home every Christmas and I had not been home since February, so I really couldn't wait to get there. We had a great time. It was a busy holiday but I had a great time. So, I came back here a little bummed, but now I'm looking forward to enjoying this New Year.

So, I only did one class for the holidays and it was at the end of November. I did an ornament class at Eastern University, my alma mater, with a lot of help from Alison Wear, my upline. It was really fun and I think it was a success.

We demonstrated ornaments using lots of Stampin' Up's Designer Series Paper and chipboard sets. All the participants made ornaments for their tree trimming party. So, here's Alison and I standing beside the tree at Eastern University's Christmas tree at EU Philadelphia.

But Alas, that is the past! On to the future, or at least the present. Stampin' Up has a new 2007-08 Spring/Summer Collection catalogue and idea book. I have ordered several new stamp sets from the catalogue and there are a lot of great promotions. Hi, today is the first day of my blog. I am a new Stamping Up demonstrator in the Philadelphia area and I wanted to get active with my work and keep any and all readers informed about workshops, classes, new techniques, etc. I sell art supplies, teach workshops and classes, handmade cards and other items. Check here often to see my new creations. I'm still learning a lot, so hopefully, like fine wine, I will get better with time. :)
